Be it drawing, sculpting, painting or digital printmaking, his command of tachism, crosshatching, composition, colour and extraordinary technique involving new and dynamic material have created work that is expressive and engaging.

Ellenbergs work explores through originality and imagination artworks that are truly complimented by his sensitivity to the ‘face’ as a vehicle for expression, tolerance, understanding and individuality. The female faces are instantly accessible, emotional and captivating while transcending age, race and ethnicity to reveal the visage of true beauty and the human experience. It is through the various manifestations- the obscure and untouched- the worked and detailed- the delicate balance of abstraction and figuration that creates these portraits. Employing a variety of media and techniques to produce these most intense and seductive faces that immediately grab and hold the viewers eye.

“I prefer to paint through design and accident, paint stroke and drip spill. The mixture of different solvents, inks and paints helps produce the most delicious gradients and unpredictable crawling’s.”
Ellenbergs drawings are expressionistic and often use surreal imagery. They dance the line between beauty and the grotesque. Fine art mixed with graphic design, the ink works provide a comedic and sometimes personal response to the world. Ellenberg has created a universe and dimension in which these characters and objects born of imagination, art and science fiction
